The Nobel Prize in Chemistry 2018

    Sir Gregory P. Winter, born in Leicester in 1951, grew up in Ghana and later studied at the University of Cambridge, where he earned his PhD in 1977. A leading scientist at the MRC Laboratory of Molecular Biology, Winter pioneered the use of phage display to evolve antibodies, a technique that has led to new treatments for diseases like rheumatoid arthritis. His work in antibody-based pharmaceuticals earned him the Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 2018.
