About the Materials Education Symposia
AMDES 2025, the Asian edition of the prestigious global conference series including IMES and NAMES, is dedicated to advancing teaching methods in Materials Sciences and Design Engineering. Scheduled for January 15-16, 2025, in Singapore, the symposium will host 90-120 participants, including educators, researchers, and practitioners. With Prof. Sir Gregory P. Winter, Nobel Laureate of 2018, as the plenary speaker, the event will focus on innovative teaching strategies, educational advances in Design Engineering, and sharing success stories from educational institutions worldwide. Sir Gregory P. Winter, born in Leicester in 1951, grew up in Ghana and later studied at the University of Cambridge, where he earned his PhD in 1977. A leading scientist at the MRC Laboratory of Molecular Biology, Winter pioneered the use of phage display to evolve antibodies, a technique that has led to new treatments for diseases like rheumatoid arthritis. His work in antibody-based pharmaceuticals earned him the Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 2018.

The Symposium website is now open for registrations and submission of abstracts for an oral or a poster presentation. The Scientific Committee would like to invite participants to share their ideas and experiences relating to Materials Education in the above-listed session themes. We also invite submissions from industry. Abstract Submissions deadline extended to 17 November 2024.
